Name: Jin Senn
Birthday: November 22nd
Nation of Birth: Fire Nation
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Element: Fire
Appearance [/i]
Appearance: Jin is an average sized male, standing at about 5'9" and has a rather lanky build. His muscles are corded and thin making him look weaker, by far, than he really is. He has the pale-ish skin tones that stand out in his race, with amber eyes and chocolate hair. A hard face shows he was not born into a wealthy family and has spent most of his adult years in the military. He usually keeps his hair short on top, fading down the sides. He wears no topknot. Three solid bands are tattooed around his left upper arm in a reddish-brown ink. Each one represents something he feels has has succeeded in becoming adept at(note: not perfect). One is for the single short sword combat, the next below it is for dual short sword combat, and the third is unarmed fighting.
Clothing:While he is working, he is usually seen in his standard Fire Nation Army uniform, complete with armor and helmet. If he takes off the helmet in combat, it is a sign that he respects who he is facing. Outside of work his clothing is simple, a tunic of rust colored cloth with a stylized golden flame around the color with dark gray leggings. He will sometimes wear braided leather cords supporting beads of hematite around both wrists while in his civilian clothing.
Weapon of Choice: Two simple short swords are what Jin personally prefers. He excels in using both, but mainly uses one in most fights unless he respects his opponent.
Bending Abilities: Jin's bending abilities are top notch for his age, putting him on par with most of the lower officers. He has refused one promotion because of his abilities so far. His current power is due to his constant training, always fanatically trying to make himself the best fighter he can possibly be. He never backs down from any duel, but is an intelligent enough fighter to learn from his mistakes. In battle, he is a cunning adversary, using both bending and weapons to his full advantage. His special ability with his Fire Bending is using small spurts or waves of just enough power to block or blow through an enemy's attack.
Inner Glance [/i]
Personality: A warrior at heart, Jin secretly finds passion and release in his spirit when he fights. He's addicted to becoming a better soldier and strives every day to do so. Not prone to talking, most find his young but set face uncomfortable, not willing to think that someone as young as him could be as stern as his appearance seems. He finds solace in odd places that contrast his whole being, and can be found reading by a fountain in a remote garden, or alone in a meadow sleeping. This is where he feels at peace with himself and with the world, a place of escape. Subjectively it is because as a child, his mother would bring him to such places and let him play around while she watched. Beware, when caught like this, Jin prefers not to be seen in such states. He views it as a major invasion of his privacy and believes it to be a weakness to need such privacy. Usually, when caught, he reacts aggressively.
Fear(s):
-Being caught in one of his places of solitude
-Talking with women that don't hold rank
-Not being strong enough
-Being caught in a burning building
Hobbies: Fire Bending, sword dancing.
History [/i]
History: Jin was born into a middle class merchant Fire Nation family one late autumn. It had been a trying year for the family, but his birth signaled a great happiness for them. Without knowing it, Jin was treated with all of the love and kindness the family could muster. After his birth, the family business began to pick up greatly. Using their newfound funds, they made their way through the middle class and applied to become a Noble Family. The night before they were to become Nobles, a terrible accident happened inside their new household. Jin, now a toddler, was copying the movements of people around him and things he had seen. The whole family was watching, clapping and laughing as the little boy mimicked his father, mother, sisters, and a few people on the streets of the market. Then, before the family's eyes, with an intense look on his little face, he copied a Fire Bender he had seen at the festival just a few days prior. To everyone's surprise, his hands spat out a tiny wave of flame. The fire caught on a piece of furniture and quickly spread throughout the newly built wooden house. The timbers, covered in a sealant, caught rapidly. Within moments the whole house was a blazing inferno, and by the time soldiers and other response teams made it there, there was nothing they could do. They did their best to keep neighboring mansions from catching the flames and had to wait as it burned to the ground.
As the fire died, and the rescuers moved in, they were amazed to find a toddler sitting among the ashes, looking utterly bewildered. No one else had lived.
Jin was sent to a military academy where he would be taught, fed, and taken care of him. His family had made no very close friends, so it was either the academy or the orphanage. As he grew up, and his abilities were realized, he began to train with a desire unparalleled to his class mates and peers. He had never been a very outgoing person, and no one really questioned him. His teachers saw great promise in him, and praised him on occassion. A few students began to hate him out of jealousy, but were quickly put in place after the first fight sent their 'leader' to the infirmary. His intense desire to better himself helped him graduate as one of the top students in his class and he was quickly picked up by the Fire Nation military. Jin has no real opinions on the current war other than it keeps him in a job and gives him new opponents to test his strength against.
Currently stationed in the Fire Nation as part of the defensive force, Jin has seen contact several times in protecting outlying villages from raiding attacks by various other kingdoms/tribes. His strength and power made him stand out in several engagements for either helping subdue multiple raiders, or by seeking out and taking down their leaders. His personal quest for strength and inner power puts him at the forefront of any battle. This tendency had apparently drew the notice of an organization known only as the Black Lotus, and that was known only to a few. With no knowledge of what their purpose truly was, or what they wanted from him, he has no idea as to what he is going to do.
