Name: Fate Lingod
Birthday: December 25th
Nation of Birth: Earth Kingdom (Ba Sing Se)
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Element: Earth
Appearance [/i]
Appearance: Fate doesn't really look all that out of the ordinary. He's a bit on the tall side (5'9") compared to other teens his age. He's got a pretty normal frame and normal weight too. He's constantly in motion, his emotions made really obvious by his dramatic gestures. He slumps his shoulders when he's feeling down, he sits up straight and dances when he's happy, when he's surprised he jumps back in full shock, waving his arms around dramatically. His eyes are light blue. His hair is brown and pretty long for a boy. In certain shades of light his hair looks black.
Clothing: Usually Fate could be found wearing his black boots, black pants, black fitted shirt, and his special crimson coat. The coat was a gift from Shiro. It's made of a light weight material so Fate wouldn't get too hot.
Weapon of Choice: Freedom & Justice - A pair of all black katanas (swords) used for close combat. The two hilts are connected with a chain that's three feet in length. There's nothing special about the sheaths. He usually wears the sheath on the left side of his waist so that he could hide his weapons in his coat when not used.
Bending Abilities: Fate is a highly skilled Earthbender, but he wouldn't be considered a master yet. He wouldn't even consider himself an expert. He knows he had much more to learn when it comes to Earthbending since he was more focused on his swordsmanship while training with Shiro.
But the little Earthbending Fate can do he does well. The basics from creating earth columns to rock shields. He would love to do the more advanced techniques like Earth Waves so he's searching for a master. For now, he relies most on his swordsmanship.
Inner Glance [/i]
Personality: Because his moods seem to change constantly, Fate's personality is hard to pin down. One moment he can be all bad-guy and comes across as fairly menacing, but the next minute he flinches back and starts talking to himself about how he really isn't cut out for the job. He can be civil and pleading one moment and then appear cynical and sarcastic the next. He can be clever and has a thing for noticing little details, but can also be completely oblivious to the obvious and make poor life choices. With the rapid changes all he really accomplishes is a very good impression of a complete spazz case.
He usually puts up a fairly light-hearted and thoughtful front, unless the situation calls for "evil." But still he usually thinks about others before he thinks about himself and will usually claim he's not really the right guy for the job. He has a lot of expectations to live up to, considering he's somewhat a hero. It all boils down to him looking like a pushover, kind of air-headed, and not all that threatening. He doesn't enjoy fighting and will probably try to get out of it in any way he can. But don't let his personality fool you. He's fully capable of fending for himself.

History [/i]
History: The son of an Earth Kingdom noble of Ba Sing Se and innocence mother, a year after Fate was born his mother was murdered. His father always told Fate that it was at the hands of the Fire Nation. The truth was that Fate's father, Kai, was nobility while his mother was just a common person. Fate's father didn't want word of the affair getting out so he had Fate's mother killed. He then took Fate in because he felt horrible for what he done and thought it would be a way to repent for his actions.
When Fate was near the end of elementary school (Don't know if it was called elementary school though), Fate would spend time with his 5th grade teacher, Shiro, who was also a master of swordmanship and Earthbender. To get away from his father for as much time as possible, Fate would go on trips with Shiro to sell and buy swords and train with his Earthbending. On a trip to Kyoshi Island, Fate saw an image that would forever be kept in his mind. Two swords made by the first ever "Nippon Kaji Sosho."
Even at 10 years old something told him he was destined to wield blades like those. Seeing the look of desire on Fate's face Shiro bent down to whisper in his ear. "If you commit to training with me I will buy you blades like these." At that moment Fate committed to training under Shiro learning the history and fighting styles of both Earthbending and Swordmanship. Fate became focused on the skills necessary for weilding two blades and Earthbending. He knew he would never get Shiro to make him swords without intense training.
After 6 years of this training with Shiro and on his own, he had completly mastered Earthbending and swordmanshiop. Kai became aware that it was effecting his grades. Fate had always been one of the smartest kids so his father left him to his hobbies. When his grades dropped, Kai stepped in. He got Shiro to agree to stop hanging out with Fate unless he improved in his school.
Shiro kept his promise and bought Fate the swords he wanted. Everything was going well for Fate. He had got his grade back up and was allowed to hang out with Shiro once again. The war that was going on between the nations was so close, but it felt so far away to the boy. The only thing that could have made it better was if his mother was alive. Fate remembered that his mother was kind and gentle. He was young then, but he could still remember her warm embrace. Now that he was a master swordsman and a skilled Earthbender he could take down the Fire Nation; get revenge for his mother's death.
Fate knew it was a stupid idea. Revenge wouldn't bring his mother back. Besides, he was only one person. There was no way he could take out the whole Fire Nation. Still, he had to try, he had to do it for his mother. Even at the age of nineteen he couldn't forget. He couldn't let go of his hatred for the Fire Nation.
A few weeks pass and Fate finally made up his mind. He was going to join the Earth Kingdom's military. But he ran into Shiro. After telling Shiro of his plan, Shiro ran to get Kai to stop the boy. Shiro knew that the boy wasn't going to be fighting for the right reasons. Fate was at the walls of Ba Sing Se when Kai and Shiro caught him. Guilt finally getting the best of the boy's father, Kai came out and admitted that he had Fate's mother killed. Shiro was shoocked while Fate could do nothing but breakdown and cry. "Why would he do something like that?" That question repeated in the boy's head over and over.
Kai was imprisoned, leaving the boy to stay with Shiro for the time being. Fate was sad, but his mother came to him one night in a dream. She told him that she named him Fate because he was a blessing and he was going to do great things with his life, to live his life to the fullest. Fate then took his mother's name as his last name or surname as a remembrance of her. The next day Fate said his goodbyes and thank Shiro for everything he done. Fate left Ba Sing Se to find his purpose in this world.
