Name: Ryoko Vindas
Birthday: October 7th
Nation of Birth: Northern Air Temple
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Element: Air
Appearance [/i]
Appearance: Ryoko stands at a proud height of 5'6", which isn't too tall, but she feels it's the perfect height, avoiding being too short as well. Her figure is slim and dainty, as one would expect from a young woman; however, it leads to her atheleticism, her small frame making her as light as a feather and allowing her to glide and flip with ease. Her skin is flawless and light, almost to where some would say pale, interestingly enough for someone who has spent most of her life above the clouds closer to the sun. Her eyes are a light grey, practically the color of a cloudy sky, though they appear to be almost as soft as the clouds themselves.
Ryoko
Clothing: Ryoko prefers to wear kimonos, mainly those with long sleeves for her to be able to store her twin fans. She doesn't care about the color or the style, as long as it looks good... and she believes pretty much anything on her looks good. An eyepatch always covers her right eye, even during baths and sleep, though it is plain, a stark contrast to her outfit. She also enjoys matching accessories, like hairclips or scarves, just to broaden her appearance.
Weapon of Choice: Twin razor sharp fans
Bending Abilities: Ryoko is an air bender, trained in the northern air temple. She isn't a master bender, considering that she has trouble concentrating her bending into cutting wind or into a stable shape that is ridable. However, she is adept in creating large gusts and bursts, especially when amplified by her fans.
Inner Glance [/i]
Personality: Ryoko is often said to just be a big child; she is quite bubbly and perky to all people, both friends and strangers. She doesn't seem to hold serious grudges at all, though she does enjoy teasing people. She acts optimistically, and sees the best in people; she especially enjoys pushing other people, either by teasing or challenging them, to become even better. She isn't obsessed with perfection, but she hates to see wasted talent. It's rather strange, considering that she feels that way no matter what nation they are from, or if they're friend or foe. She doesn't really seem to have any set loyalties except to her few friends. She is also rather laid back, and enjoys feigning ignorance or being an airhead to get out of having to do things, and to avoid conflicts.
However, there is a side of her rarely seen, one that is quite dark in contrast to her light childish self. Ryoko can become quite harsh and cruel, though she still keeps a playful mood, though it now involves toying with people and forcing their hand. She can be quite crafty like this, coming up with shemes that most people wouldn't believe she could create on her own.
Fear(s): Darkness/Claustrophobia - Ryoko is used to night, but being enclosed in a space where there's no light and/or little room causes her to panic and have a meltdown.
Hobbies: -Airbending
-Games
-Traveling
-Learning new things
-Messing with people

History [/i]
History: Ryoko was born to a couple who lived in the earth kingdom, Ares and Sairen Vindas, both simple merchants; her only sibling was her elder sister by three years, Ayeka. Her childhood and life seemed like it was going to be quiet and pleasant; their village was out of the way so very little trouble came through, and there were no benders in town, meaning that the folks had a simple life with simple tools and none of that fancy magic.
However, at a young age, Ryoko discovered that when she got too hot, there always seemed to be a nice gust of wind to cool her down. After so many "conveniences", it didn't take a genius to figure out that the girl was actually bending the air to help cool her off. Considering that there was no one in the village to teach her, her parents decided that it would be best to send the girl off to the Northern Air Temple to learn about her bending and master it; fortunately, it wasn't too far from their home, so she could return every so often to visit her family.
Thus Ryoko moved up to the Northern Air Temple and lived there with the monks, learning about air bending and honing her skills with the other students there. She did learn quite well about how to operate as a bender, but had trouble with certain abilities, mainly those that were continuous or slicing. She was proficient, however, with gusts and bursts of wind, especially for gliding and moving objects about with the air. She even acquired a pair of small hand fans which helped focus and amplify her air blasts.
However, the peaceful days of learning air bending and visiting her family came to an end when the war began; the air nomads, being spread out across the world and located near several large cities, chose to avoid participating in the war, considering that they would suffer many casualties at various temples depending on who they chose to ally themselves with. The air nomads, however, did change the training of all of the monks and students at the temples, focusing more on defensive and evasive manuevers; even if they were going to be neutral, the air temples were still prime locations for other nations to capture... and not everyone agreed with their isolationist policy.
Thus, it was no surprise when the Earth Kingdom opted to attack the Northern Air Temple, considering that it was a easily defendable fort in between the Earth Kingdom and the Northern Water Tribe. All monks and students were called upon to defend the temple, both covering the walkway that the earth troops and striking from the air with their gliders. Ryoko helped cover the temple from the ground, using strong bursts of wind to blow away soldiers and rocks. However, while overpowered, the earth benders were not helpless; several air benders were injured in the attack, including Ryoko, who was struck on her right eye by a rock. Without being in contact with water benders in order to use their healing abilities, most of the air benders never fully recovered from their injuries; Ryoko's eye was permanently damaged, swollen and disfigured. However, despite the wounds, the earth benders were repelled, and the Northern Air Temple remained free and under the hold of the air nomads.
That day changed Ryoko, in a way that most people would say for the worst. She thought the war was a terrible, stupid thing, and that the warring nations who wanted to bring in everyone was ridiculous. She didn't really care who started the war, just that everyone who was participating in it was stupid, and they just wanted to draw everyone else in... like her innocent home. She wouldn't let that happen... not now, not ever.
As soon as she was released from resting in the medical bay, Ryoko snuck out and stole a pair of twin fans with razor edges along with one large fan. Using the large fan as a seat, she rode the air currents away from the Northern Air Temple into the Earth Kingdom to find the earth benders and put a stop to their idiotic attacks. It didn't take her long to find the troops, and she began to follow them from the skies, waiting for the right moment to drop in and wipe them all out. However, as she watched, she didn't see the same crazed psychos that attacked the Norther Air Temple... she saw just a group of regular soldiers, trying to get by despite being forced to fight. It was... different; they were just normal people, like her. And she couldn't just kill them all... could she?
Confused and conflicted, Ryoko soared off into the skies, pausing only at a small outpost to trade her air bender robes for a more generic outfit before sailing off to travel across the world, seeing what she could and avoiding fights and armies along the way, merely visiting the various nations. It was weird to see all of these people, so different in culture and location, but the same in terms of spirit and personality. They were all one big people, so why the war? It was... still really stupid in her mind.
During these travels, Ryoko was attacked by a fire bender as she passed over the ocean. Normally, that wouldn't mean too much to her, considering that she could just fly away from the ships; however, the fireball thrown punched a hole in the fan, forcing her to land on the ship. For some reason, the fire bender didn't continue the attack, instead questioning her about her fan and her life. Ryoko agreed to talk, but only after her fan was fixed and she was fed. The fire bender agreed, and a friendship was forged between the two.
The fire bender, a female named Yuzuki, had a plan; considering how close she was to the fire lord, she could sway the movements and actions of the Fire Nation, and lead them to do what she wished. However, what she really needed was information about the other nations, and she couldn't collect it well, being next to the fire lord and all. So Ryoko volunteered to help go out and gather whatever was needed; it was a lot more interesting than just flying around and doing nothing.
