Basics [/i]
Name: Visaya Yuuto
Birthday: November 25
Nation of Birth: Air Nation
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Element: Air
Appearance [/i]
Appearance: Visaya's skin is a pale fair that burns rather easily. Her hair is a dark brown, very dull in sheen and rather thick. Her hair is almost continually pulled up into a tight, perfect bun with two long bangs that hang in front of her face, secured at the ends with strings. Her eyes are a watered down green-gray hue with thin eyelashes but a round almond shape. She stands at 5' 7" with somewhat nearly awkwardly long limbs and digits. Her chest is on the smaller side and has very slight to no curves. Her muscle tone is very lean but still recognizable. She maintains a healthy weight, but based on her long body she looks almost stick-like and slender.
Clothing: Visaya's out fit of choice consists of golden yellow colored sleeveless shirt with a high, loose, wrap around collar. She wears dull chocolate colored tight shorts that reach her knees, covered by a one sided dark orange/brown skirt that covers the front and back of her right leg. Over her top, she wears a long red sash that cuts across her torso diagonally. In addition, she wears dark brown boots that reach just below her knee and dark brown fingerless gloves with restraints of her elbows.
Visaya
When trying to blend in more, Visaya wears a dark brown head band that covers her head arrow, but also wraps her hands and feet.
Weapon of Choice: She doesn't particularly fond of the glider/staff, so she hardly uses it. Her favored weapon is the air sword, which consists of a hollow but strong metal sword hilt that allows her to channel air currents into striking elements.
Bending Abilities: She is a notably skilled Airbender, but still lacks in areas despite her master status. She is naturally more strong in the rare offense air attacks, but is weak in more advanced defense techniques. Her favorite technique is the one she invented for her examination, called Air Unity. It allows her to separate herself in to particles and assimilate into the air, while maintaining the senses of hearing and sight. She can re-assimilate herself in a different location but afterward, she is extremely fatigued.
Inner Glance [/i]
Personality: Straight laced and serious, Visaya was raised to in the spirit of efficiency and order. While very sarcastic and witty, she hardly laughs and has an extremely dry sense of humor. She takes her duty as an Airbender and any job she undertakes very seriously and often dismisses things she sees as a waste of time. Systematic and organized, she could very well be undiagnosed OCD and finds herself unconsciously refolding things or lining up objects etc. She holds high respect for rules and superiors, honoring laws usually unquestionably. Quick to learn, she spots small details and inconsistencies often, though mostly in training exercises. Most of her weaknesses lie in social skills, where she is horrible at perceiving others emotions unless entirely blatant. She misunderstands emotional conflicts often and often says inappropriately timed phrases in delicate situations.
Fear(s): Animals usually hate her, so she avoids them as much as possible. She also fears letting people down, so she works extremely hard at everything she does, never giving less than 105%.
Hobbies:
-Organzing and Cleaning
-Calligraphy
-Taking care of Junpyo
History [/i]
History: Visaya is the oldest of her four siblings, her mother dying in childbirth with the last one. She had two younger sister, Yui ( 2 years younger), Miko (4 years younger), and her little brother Jihoo (7 years younger). Since her family needed her at home, Visaya was forced to delay Airbending training until she was 10, where as most children begin around 6 or 7. She raised her two younger sisters and brother, cooking, cleaning, and doing other menial tasks at an early age. Though most might've believed she'd develop a kind, motherly instinct, Visaya developed quite the opposite. Her father had many monk duties, so she had to run a tight ship in order to keep everyone healthy and happy. When her youngest sister reached 6, her father sent them off to the Western Temple to train, saying he'd take the youngest, Jihoo, with him to the Southern Temple. Visaya was often ridiculed in secret during the training by the peers her age for being so far behind. They mocked her for playing mother to her sisters and for the way animals stayed away from her. Most of the teasing was sharp words that cut Visaya emotionally, but she hardly ever let it get her, forcing her to develop defensive sarcasm. Seizing all the spare time to train she had never known, Visaya meditated and trained constantly, finally doing something she believed to be the only thing she ever did for herself.
Soon enough she had caught up to her age group and the bison choosing came. No bison dared come near her or anywhere near her apple even after she'd thrown it. While all the other girls began training their bison, Visaya kept to herself. One day on a field trip outside the temple, she tripped over an infant Eelhound who'd been attacked. He only had one eye and was missing several toes on multiple feet, so she hid him in her cloak and took him back. She intended to heal him and set him free, but he soon grew too attached to her and followed her everywhere. He grew at an alarming rate and became restless, but thanks to Visaya's hard, motherly ways, he was tamed after a year. Once unable to attend Sky Bison training, Visaya came instead with her Eelhound, which her little sister had named Junpyo.
At the age of 16, Visaya's youngest sister died of disease despite the effort of the Temple's healers. Miko, her other sister was sobbing for weeks, while Visaya forced herself to remain unaffected in public by her sister's passing. She loathed the feeling of being helpless to her sister and was mentally assualted by guilt that nearly killed her. She sent a letter to her father at the Southern Air Temple, only to received word that her father had never stayed at that temple in the past 6 years. She sent another letter to the two remaining temples, only to receive the same message. Until she was a master Airbender, the Monks wouldn't allow her to leave, so Visaya trained tirelessly. She learned every minimum criteria she needed for the test and passed at the age of 18. The monks gave her a glider so she could reach the temples and enough food and supplies for at least six months. She left Miko in the charge of her favorite teacher and set off to each temple.
Ever since she has traveled extensively around the nations, searching for her father and brother. Every six months or so she checks in on Miko and the temple to make sure they are still safe. Since many refugee Air Nomads have been forced to the Western Temple, it is the most well guarded temple to trust her sister with. Visaya feels it's her duty to find her father and brother, and bring them to the safety of the temple or take Miko to them so they can be safe together.
