The Plot So Far."My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked.
Only the Avatar mastered all four elements. Only he could stop the ruthless firebenders. But when the world needed him most, he vanished.
A hundred years have passed and the Fire Nation is nearing victory in the war. Two years ago, my father and the men of my tribe journeyed to the Earth Kingdom to help fight against the Fire Nation, leaving me and my brother to look after our tribe.
Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads and that the cycle is broken, but I haven't lost hope. I still believe that somehow the Avatar will return to save the world."- Katara
"It's not getting away from me this time, Katara. Watch and learn..." Sokka said, poking his tongue out with concentration with his spear clutched in his gloved hand. Katara sighed and looked over the side of their canoe. Her reflection was diffracted by a fish just under the surface. She frowned before cautiously glancing at Sokka and raising her hand just above the water. Suddenly, out of the water came a globe with the fish trapped inside.
"Sokka! Look!" She cried in excitement, moving the ball of water closer to the boat.
"Shhh. Katara, you're gonna scare it away. Mmmm, I can already smell it cookin'!" He whispered in trepidation.
"But Sokka! I caught one!" She explained with a grin. Sokka remained tongue-out, tracing a fish with his eyes. The fish edged closer to the boat, and Sokka yanked back his arm rather dramatically, and pierced the water globe Katara was holding. The lucky fish inside slipped back into the sea with it's companion, Sokka, on the other hand got covered in icy water.
"Urgh! Why is it, every time you play with magic water, I get soaked!?" Sokka asked angrily. He tossed the spear down in the canoe and glared at her.
"It's not magic. It's waterbending, and it's-" She began.
"Yeah, Yeah, yeah, an ancient art unique to our culture, blah blah blah. Look, I'm just saying that if I had weird powers, I'd keep my weirdness to myself..." He said and looked into the distance, scoping out another place to fish...
-(Separates from Episode here)-
Katara scowled and mumbled something to herself. She wasn't wierd, it was part of their culture, a very important part of the Water Tribe. She thought of her mother and became more mellow instantly. Her eyes drifted from her hands to the water, which was now littered with ice layers, small bergs and a few eel-seals scattered atop them.
Sokka drew air in quickly and lept to his feet. He claimed his spear and thrust it into the water. On it's end was a large red fish, which struggled, and somehow forced itself from the point and onto one of the layers of ice.
"You're not getting away this time!" Sokka exclaimed and lept from the boat after the fish. The Red Mackerel flipped itself from layer to layer, desperately trying to get back into the water, but lacking direction and more importantly, legs, it's only chance was to bounce around hoping to hit the sea. Sokka sped after it, jumping from berg, to ice, as they precariously moved under his weight. At the last moment, Sokka dived, and caught hold of the Fish's tail. He exclaimed something, before finding out the importance of holding on tight. He wrestled it to his chest just as Katara slowly drifted over to him on the canoe.
"Da-da!" Sokka bragged standing up. The Red Mackerel struggled again, slapping him in the face. "Stupid fish, stay still!" He warned. In a final last effort, the fish gave all it's might and wriggled. Sokka fumbled to hold it, and in the confusion he slipped on the berg, causing it to dip heavily in the water.
The fish got away...
Katara burst out lauging, "Serves you right!" She said as Sokka complained to himself. He shot a scowl at his sister, and was about to say something when violent bubbles erupted from the water underneath him. He shot up and dived into the boat, hastily trying to get away, with no prevail - The canoe got lifted out of the water, by a giant piece of ice, and to one side of it, was a large orb, with a strange glow inside...
Deep in the ice, they could see a figure of a boy in a meditation pose. He had white arrows on his fists and on his bald head. Suddenly, his eyes began to glow along with the arrow tattoos.
